About the Blog

The Blogfather was created for aspiring journalism students to get a feel for what is going on in Journalism 300, as well as other courses relating to journalism at UMass. We have provided samples of our writing assignments as well as different websites we frequently visit. Some of these are news sources, other blogs, or just helpful /popular websites.

Over the course of the semester we chose what we felt was our best work and posted it on the blog. We took pictures of student events and other scenes we thought would be conducive to photo journalism and posted them as well. The events we decided to post reflected what we thought were necessary deadlines and tips useful for current and aspiring journalism students. The hope was that aspiring journalism students, and students trying to enroll in Journ: 300, would be able to view our blog and get an general overview of the class and what to expect from the curriculum. With the experience gleaned from working on both the class and personal blogs this semester, we have set a framework that we can enhance and improve upon as we further our journalism careers. Overall, it was a great experience and we advice all other aspiring journalists to try and create their own!
